Uptrip Frequent Traveller collection, step by step

Last reviewed

The Uptrip Frequent Traveller collection hands out FTL status, and it takes fewer flights than its card count suggests. When we reviewed it, the collection wanted fifty cards with any kind allowed, and forty of those had to be originals. Your own flight segments cover the originals, and cheap cards from OpenSea can fill the rest. Below is the plan, step by step.

What the collection asks for

In the collections data this site reads, Frequent Traveller names FTL status as its reward. None of its places asks for a particular city, airline or aircraft. Any Uptrip card fits, and the same card may sit in it more than once. Forty of the fifty places, however, are reserved for originals.

The collection page on this site always shows the requirements as they stand now. Look there before you plan, because Uptrip can change a collection at any time.

What FTL status is

FTL is short for Frequent Traveller, a status level in Miles & More, the frequent flyer scheme shared by the Lufthansa Group airlines. What the status includes, how long it lasts and how Uptrip passes it on are matters for Miles & More and the Uptrip app. This site cannot see your account and does not check those terms for you, so read the reward conditions in the app before you begin.

The plan: forty originals plus ten bought cards

According to Uptrip's help pages(opens in a new tab), every flight segment you add in the app offers four cards made for that flight, and you keep two of them. A segment is one flight from take-off to landing, so a journey with a change of planes counts twice. Whatever you collect this way is an original. Twenty segments therefore bring you forty originals, which is exactly the share the collection reserves.

The remaining ten places take any card at all, original or not. This is where buying helps: since the collection does not mind which card arrives, low-priced offers on OpenSea do the job. On this site, buy Uptrip cards lists the cards for sale right now, starting with the cheapest.

Step by step

  1. Open Frequent Traveller in the Uptrip app. Two counters there compare the originals and the cards you have placed with the numbers the collection needs.
  2. After each flight, add its boarding pass and pick two cards per segment. Since any card fits, choose cards that none of your other collections is waiting for.
  3. Place your originals in the collection until the originals counter is full.
  4. On the Frequent Traveller page of this site, enter your originals in the planner. It shows the open places and what filling them costs at current offers.
  5. Buy the missing cards on OpenSea; our OpenSea buying guide covers every click. A card sent to the crypto wallet you linked with Uptrip shows up in the app by itself, so you can place it straight away.
  6. Once both counters are full, redeem the collection in the app.

Tips before you start

Duplicates count, which makes this collection a handy place for spare cards. Remember that redeeming burns every card you placed. Put in the cards you can do without and hold back anything another collection still needs. How redeeming works is covered in our guide to Uptrip collections.

Do you already own the Joker Card from the Uptrip app? It can take one missing place and is counted there as an original. That spares you one original, not a whole segment, since a segment still gives you two cards. Since the Joker Card can be neither minted nor traded, no other collector can sell it to you, and it never shows up on OpenSea. More on it in our guide to original cards.

Flights with Eurowings bring cards just like those of any other partner airline, and this site has a page for Uptrip cards from Eurowings. Another source is Wings Play, a mini game that Miles & More has run inside the Uptrip app, with Eurowings supplying the prizes. Each week in which you complete a game adds one card to your account, always a non-original. It can take one of the ten open places instead of a bought card. The Uptrip app shows whether the game is running, and the Wings Play conditions(opens in a new tab) set the terms.

Whether the bought cards are worth it to you is your own decision. Our comparison of Uptrip collections sets the cost of completing each collection against the value of its reward. It lists FTL status without a number, because a status has no reliable cash value.

Questions about the Frequent Traveller collection

How many flights does Frequent Traveller take?

Twenty flight segments cover the forty originals, as long as you keep two cards from every segment, which the app allows. Counting goes by flight: a return trip with one change in each direction already makes four segments. With the Joker Card you need one original fewer.

Can bought cards replace originals?

No. A card from OpenSea always arrives as a non-original. It fits just the places that do not ask for an original, and in this collection those are the ten places next to the forty originals.

Do the cards have to be different?

No. When we reviewed the collection, it accepted any card and allowed the same card several times, so cheap duplicates are fine.

Is the collection still open?

Every collection page on this site shows the collection's status. Frequent Traveller was open when we reviewed it. Uptrip decides how long it runs and how many rewards it gives out; the Uptrip app has the current state.

Uptrip and Miles & More set the requirements, the reward and its terms for Frequent Traveller, and they can change them. Look at the collection in the Uptrip app before you fly for it or pay for cards.
